RSV

Respiratory syncytial virus, or RSV, is a common virus. It spreads through coughing and sneezing. You can also get RSV by touching surfaces that has RSV on them, then touching your eyes, nose, or mouth.

RSV can cause severe lung infections. Each year in the United states,  75 000 to 125, 000 babies younger than one are hospitalized.

Premature babies, children younger than 2 with lung disease or certain heart problems,  65 years old and other and people with weakened immune systems are at great risk for RSV.

There is no vaccine to orevent RSV infectio, but there us a medicine called Palivizumab given as monthly shots through out RSV season. #www.CDC.com
