I woke up sick today.  Tired and groogy. Loud embarrassing cough.

I have to go back to bed. Thank God for my parents.

Sick Day.

Daniel had to go see a doctor today. Running fever, running nose, crying and not eating right.

Got checked out by doctor. Tests shows negative for flu.

Got Inhaler and ear wash.

We are home.

The Flu

The Flu is in our house. First person with cough and running nose was Dana. I have been trying to keep her away from Daniel by letting her play her computer games in her room, do her homework in her bed.  And all other activities in abnormal places. She was getting better and I was happy.

Woke up last night to a choking sound and it was Daniel gaping for breathing. Both nostrils were mucus plugged and he looked scared out of his mind. Eyes wide open and all.

Quickly lifted him up and bulb suction his nostrils. Wore him some jacket, and cap. My mom took over by rubbing him with Some local shea butter cream. Gave him some warm food and he is sleeping now.

Thank God he got his flu shot. 

Y'all stay warm. It is cold and freezing over here.

Busy

Busy is my new name as I try to meet everyone's needs. Cooking, serving, bathing, grooming, cleaning, arranging, descliping, sorting, every "ING" possible.

My parents are doing well. Brought a lot of African goodies but sin

ce thier flight was delayed, half of my gifts perished.

No worries.  Happy to see my pips.

Freezing.

Visited a new friend yesterday in Katy, Texas. Beautiful house she got and the best baker in town.

She just wanna bake homemade cake not commercial. But she got skills.


When we left, the roads were freezing But we made it home  safely.

No school.

Yoga Mode

I made a delicious pot of jollof rice ( spanish rice) last sunday. I added                

Some shrimps for texture and mixed vegetables for crunch and adventure.

*Did you peep my culinary lingo? Texture! Adventure!  Crunch!   Evidence of watching too many cooking shows. Yes!

Back to the story, when the rice was ready, I turned the stove off and rushed to get the kids ready for dude's birthday party.

Before we left, I asked Daddy to help me put the rice in the refrigerator.  He nodded.

6 hours later when we got back, the pot was still on the stove and it stank. My delicious rice was sticking and slimming.

Wow! I am still in shock. He apologised. I went into yoga mode even though I wanted to Jackie Chan him. Pheeeeew!

Mirage?

Have you ever driven on a very hot day and you see a pool of water ahead of you? On getting there, puff! Nothing! That is called a mirage.

Was my daughter miraging. ( my word) or the teacher covering up. I might have to burst out my detective kits for investigation.

The reply to my yesterday's letter was that nothing happened. The teacher said she did not hit her head and no medical attention was required. Hence, no report.

Dana insisted    she fell and hit her head. I might have to take her to the doctor. Stay tuned for this saga unfolding.

Dana told me last Friday that she fell and hit her head at school. She said a doctor checked her out.

I looked in her bag for a report.  None. So I penned a letter this morning.  Forgive my handwriting.

The summary of the letter is me trying to find out what happened and how severe it was.

Martin Luther King

Today is Martin Luther King's day. A day I have always celebrated since my secondary school days at Igbinedion Education Centre.

The school celebrated this day every year and we never knew the significance.  Now I know.

Now I know why I can work, play, eat, laugh,  worship,  cry, cheer, fight, whisper, grin, jump with other races without fear of persecution.

Now I know.

Not just for me but for my children and my future generations.  For that, I salute Dr Martin Luther King.  I thank you. Continue to Rest in Peace.

Happy Martin Luther king day yall.

Fish Fry

I have been badly burnt from frying fish but I just can't stop. Sometimes,  I do bake and all.  However,  No time today.

We are all going to MY DUDE's birthday. He is two years old. Love you dude.

kitchen Helper

I am not just  good with equipment and gadgets.  Just do not enough time to read the the menus and operate them properly.


Well,  I bursted out two kitchen gadgets I have had for a year now. A sandwich maker and a vegetable shredder.

The sandwich maker worked just fine.  The sandwiches are delicous and makes easy meals for  Dana.

Now the shredder is my problem. That thing blended my Tomatoes. I do  have a blender for that.  Now I have to fry eggs with blended tomatoes.

Where is my receipts? Refund please!
